Remarkably Bright Creatures Movie Review

This review will have some slight spoilers for both the book and the movie.

Be sure to check out my thoughts about the book here!

Book Reader Thoughts:

I thought that this was a well done book to movie adaptation. I think that it really captured the heart of the story and did a good job showing the relationships between the different characters. As someone who enjoyed all the details of the novel, I will say that I was sad to see that there were some details missing that could’ve added more depth to the characters. Some of the emotional parts of the movie would’ve hit harder if the movie had included some of the backstories about the characters that were included in the book. I think both Sally Field and Lewis Pullman did an amazing job as Tova and Cameron and it was really fun watching both them interact on the screen.

Favorite Things from the Movie:

Things I wish that they would have included:

  • The history behind Tova’s house and why selling it was such a hard decision for her to make

  • More about Tova’s brother and how their relationship ties into the theme of complicated relationships

  • The details behind Erik’s accident and how it helped the characters find resolution and peace.

Non Book Reader Thoughts:

I thought that I would include my mom’s perspective on this movie as we both watched it together and she has not yet read the book.
