My Thoughts about the Book:

One of the reasons why I picked up this book was because it was part of Reese Witherspoon’s book club. I have read a few of the books that are a part of this book club and I have enjoyed them all! Another reason why I chose this book was that the main character is part of a royal family. I wouldn’t say that I am obsessed with the different royal families, but I have fond memories of watching the royal weddings and talking to my friends about all the details. This book really caught my attention from the very first chapter and I immediately wanted to know what would happen to the main character.

I liked how the main character Lexi felt real when she was making decisions and how her morals stayed the same throughout the book. This character was funny and felt like someone I would like to be friends with. She kept her ground when faced with conflicts and stayed true to herself and her beliefs. The supporting characters felt like they actually added on to the story instead of just being there for the plot, which was refreshing to see. In my opinion, this book was easy to follow along with, even though it switched between times in the character’s life. I could very easily see this story becoming a TV show adaptation. When I was reading this book, I felt like I could see the story coming to life.

Even though I enjoyed reading a fictional adaptation of a British royal family, the references to the real life royal family took me out of the story since I felt like there were so many included in this book. I think I would have liked the book more if it was told in a fantasy world or different real life location that wasn’t as well known. While reading this book, I thought that some of the pacing in this book felt slow, particularly in the middle of the book.

Would I recommend this book?

Yes! All in all I did have a fun time reading this book and it is a book that I would want to reread in the future. I think that you would enjoy this book if you are interested in the royal family, enjoy shows like The Crown on Netflix or if you are interested in drama filled books. Please let me know if you would like me to review any other Reese Witherspoon club books!
